GCCAN appears on 60 Minutes To Discuss Trans Health

On May 23rd, 60 Minutes released a segment on Transgender Health Care, covering the recent bills attempting to make trans healthcare illegal, testimonials from various trans health professionals, and detransition. The segment received pushback, which the producers detailed in a 60 Minutes: Overtime segment. One of the interviewed subjects was Grace Lidinsky-Smith, the president of GCCAN. She spoke of her own detransition and of the hope to improve better patient outcomes, access to therapy, and lifetime patient outcome tracking.

Response to APA Guidelines

The American Psychological Association is getting ready to revise their trans guidelines for 2022. They provided an opportunity for public comment on their “Guidelines for Psychological Practice with Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming People” from 2015. The current guidelines do not address many of the important needs we outline in the GCCAN Gender Care Consumer’s Bill of Rights and we have provided the APA with suggestions for improvement.
